Posted by Terence J on September 26, 2012

A Texas woman shot her husband to protect her cat, authorities say. According to ABC News, Audrey Deen Miller of Harris County, Tex., allegedly shot her husband in the stomach after he threatened to hurt one of her beloved cats. Deputies told KHOU.com that Miller and her husband had been arguing at their home on Tuesday morning when he “threatened to shoot her cat with a pellet gun.”

It was then that Miller, who owns several cats and dogs, allegedly pulled out a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun and shot her husband in the stomach. “The husband was trying to do something to the cat and the wife was just trying to protect her cat,” said Assistant Chief Mark Herman of Harris County Precinct 4.

Miller was arrested on the scene and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her husband was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery for his wounds. He was listed in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon. As for the cat, reports say the animal escaped the incident unscathed. At least one neighbor told KPRC that the couple seemed pleasant enough. ”They’ve been nice neighbors and quiet,” Debra Best told the station.

GPS

Help...or hindrance?

I just read about an Austrian woman whose satnav led her into a lake. Luckily everyone in the vehicle was able to get out and is fine. Of course, this made me think…

While GPS/Sat navigation devices can be extremely helpful to a driver unfamiliar with their surroundings, they’re not perfect. Sometimes they can produce some rather odd results, as the previously linked article demonstrates.

Have you ever had your GPS/Sat nav take you to some place other than the intended destination? Call up and share your experience.
