MC Hammer has been in the works of creating a search engine. He announced at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco the search engine will be called ‘WireDoo’. This search will  be different than all the other ones. Hammer said the initiative doesn’t aim to recreate search, but rather to make search a deeper experience.

The tagline of this seach engine is  ”Search once, see what’s related” and it will focus on connecting key words to related topics. This is not available to the public yet.

2 charged with stealing iPad users’ information

Posted by Chops on January 19, 2011

NEWARK, N.J. – Two men who authorities say were competing to impress their fellow hackers were arrested Tuesday on federal charges they stole the e-mail addresses of more than 100,000 Apple iPad users, including politicians and media personalities.

The theft and the AT&T security weakness that made it possible were revealed months ago, and U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said there was no evidence the men used the swiped information for criminal purposes. Authorities cautioned, however, that it could theoretically have wound up in the hands of spammers and scam artists.

Daniel Spitler, a 26-year-old bookstore security guard from San Francisco, and Andrew Auernheimer, 25, of Fayetteville, Ark., were charged with fraud and conspiracy to access a computer without authorization.

What happens when mom unplugs teens for 6 months?

Posted by Chops on January 18, 2011

NEW YORK – Susan Maushart lived out every parent’s fantasy: She unplugged her teenagers.

For six months, she took away the Internet, TV, iPods, cell phones and video games. The eerie glow of screens stopped lighting up the family room. Electronic devices no longer chirped through the night like “evil crickets.” And she stopped carrying her iPhone into the bathroom.

The result of what she grandly calls “The Experiment” was more OMG than LOL — and nothing less than an immersion in RL (real life).

Read the surprising results here!
