Katt Williams Retires From Comedy!

Posted by B Shorty on December 5, 2012

Katt Willams has announced his retirement from comedy. The comedian has been in the news a lot lately—like for crazy police chases—and now he says he’s leaving the game for good.

“I’m just going to go ahead and announce my retirement from stand-up. I’m kinda done. I’ve already discussed it with my kids. I wasn’t really going to do it on a Seattle street. I was going to Los Angeles and do it in the offices of ICM or LiveNation,” Williams told KOMO (via CNN).

Katt Williams retires the same week that he made headline news for slapping a store employee in the face and escaping the store on a motorized scooter.

Box Office Report: ’21 Jump Street’ Wins Weekend Crown With Record $35 Mil

Posted by Chops on March 19, 2012

Sony and MGM’s 21 Jump Streetlit up the R-rated comedy marketplace, opening to a stellar $35 million at the domestic box office.

Starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, the light-hearted take on the classic TV series nabbed the best debut ever for a nonsequel, nonsummer R-rated comedy, as well as one of the best bows on the books for an action-buddy comedy or a television-to-film adaptation.

Overseas, Jump Street rolled out in 11 markets, grossing $7 million, including a standout $4.3 million in Australia, where it launched ahead of past R-rated comedies The Hangover, Tropic Thunder and Bad Teacher (also from Sony). In the U.K., it grossed $2.5 million.

Charlie Sheen Haunts Two and a Half Men, Literally

Posted by Chops on November 9, 2011

E! Online.

If Charlie Sheen said “Boo,” would Two and a Half Menjump?

Jump up, no.

Jump down, yes.

In the latest weekly Nielsen rankings, Two and a Half Men lost its claim as TV’s most-watched comedy to The Big Bang Theory, and fell to third among all series in the 18-49 demo. Those are both firsts for the fall.

Many are wondering if CBS is going to start begging back Sheen for the role, however with their new script it seems that is impossible and maybe he did get the last laugh after all.

Jon Cryer: Who Needs Charlie Sheen—I’m Working on an Album!

Posted by Chops on March 29, 2011

Packed into the New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom were comedy stars Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Bruce Willis, Alec Baldwin, and well, that crazy guy from Two and a Half Men.

It wasn’t all sweetness and light, of course. Jon Stewart, presenting an award, ripped the show for being so new no one knew what exactly what was going on.

“We’re gonna say, ‘Remember that year that there was that Comedy Awards? Yeah, that was weird,” he said.

But weirdness gave way to star power when Bill Murray emerged as the night’s first big surprise guest, receiving big standing ovation. Murray was on hand to present “The Johnny Carson Award” to David Letterman, calling him “the most important person in late night.” They hung the original multi-colored Tonight Show curtain on stage for this presentation and showed a funny montage of Letterman stunts through the years. (We noticed there was no mention nor appearance by Jay Leno all evening and it appeared to be pretty intentional. Just sayin’.)

Conan OK with Letterman, not so much with Leno

Posted by Chops on January 13, 2011

BURBANK, Calif. – Conan O’Brien says he got a phone call from David Letterman over the holidays. The CBS host wanted to make sure a year of late-night TV turmoil hadn’t created a rift between them.

O’Brien told reporters Wednesday that he and Letterman have “always been good. I said he didn’t owe me a phone call, but I appreciated it.”

O’Brien wouldn’t be so receptive to a call from Jay Leno, who preceded and replaced him as “Tonight” show host.

He says the reason is no mystery, noting, “We all know the story.”

VIDEO: Bruce Willis wears a meat hairpiece

Bruce Willis gave late-night TV viewers a laugh on Monday after taking inspiration from Lady Gaga‘s famous meat dress to don a toupee made from ground beef.

The bald “Die Hard” actor made “Late Show” host David Letterman chuckle as he sauntered out on set with a bright red hairpiece he claimed was made from “100 percent” pure beef.
