There have been rumors floating around about a possible remake of the musical Annie with Willow Smith and Jay-Z. The rumors have been confirmed. The cast will include Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz, and of course Jay-Z and Willow Smith.

In a statement, Jay-Z said of the group’s latest venture, “The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision,” adding, “We’re developing a true superstar in Willow.”

Will Smith is in discussion with Sony about potentially remaking the 1982 movie musical “Annie” with Willow Smith starring as the adorable singing orphan. There are rumors that Jay-Z will be right beside Willow on the big screen for this remake.

Considering Sony banked more than $350 million on Will Smith’s “The Karate Kid” last summer, it seems likely the studio will seriously consider the “Annie” re-do.
