The beginning of the semester is always a sentimental one for me. I have no idea why. Perhaps it is because that this is the time where I reminisce of what was and ponder what will be. It can be an anxious time as well. It is an interesting one also because freshmen and returning students, at least for a few weeks, have something in common. A returning student has the promise of a fresh start. One entirely unique than his/her last semester. While a freshman has the valuable gift of a new beginning. Both can spur on an amazing semester. As an upperclassman, I have experienced both of these feelings. If I can give any advice to anyone, it will be to seize this moment and run with it. College is the experience you make it!

A monumental moment occurred in England and Wales this past Friday. Marriage between same-sex couples was officially recognized. Many politicians from different parties within the respective countries applauded the change in the law. British Prime Minister David Cameron said in an article published on the Pink News website that, “”It says we are a country that will continue to honor its proud traditions of respect, tolerance and equal worth.” I am incredibly happy for all of those who can now share vows with their significant others. Love is love.
