WZIP Chief Engineer
The Chief Engineer at WZIP FM radio station is Blake Thompson. He selects, installs and repairs all the equipment at the radio station and also trains members how to use it. He loves working with the students and is always willing to help out with any problem no matter how busy he is. The most challenging thing about his job is keeping up to date with all the changes in radio.
Blake is also very active in the NE Ohio Chapter of the Society of Broadcast Engineers #70. He has been the Chapter Program Chairman sine 2006 and been elected Chairman or Vice Chairman all but 2 years since 2002. He has also served as the Program Chair for the Ohio Association of Broadcasters & Society of Broadcast Engineers fall Ohio Broadcast Engineering Conference since its’ inception in 2003.
Blake has worked at WZIP since October of 1980. In that time, he has rebuilt the entire station from ground up twice. Without his help the new station in Kolbe Hall would not be as high tech as it is. Thanks to him, our equipment is up to par, enabling us to effectively compete with the best commercial radio stations.
